We are pleased to participate in the Canada Strong Pass this summer. From June 19 to September 7, the following special admission rates apply.

  • Free admission for those 17 and under
  • 50% discount on admission for those 18 to 24 years old

Nova Scotia Museum Annual Pass

Adult Pass: $46.45 - Applies to individuals 18 years and older.

Family Pass: $91.85 - Applies to 2 adults and their children 17 years and under.

The historic acadian Village of Nova Scotia is located in Lower West Pubnico, within the travel region of Yarmouth and Acadian Shores. 
 

From the Town of Yarmouth: Follow Highway 103 to exit 31, and turn right. Then follow the instructions in bold below. Driving time: 30 minutes.

From Halifax: Follow Highway 103 to Exit 31, and turn left. Then follow the instructions in bold below. Driving time: 3 hours.

From Highway 103: Take Exit 31 and follow Route 335 south for 10.3 km. Turn left on School Street and on to Old Church Road. Driving time: 7 min.

Of interest: Scenic coastal Route 3 from Barrington to Pubnico, where legends of the sea come alive and the rhythm of life moves in harmony with the tides.

Our boutique offers a wide variety souvenirs crafted by talented local artisans such as jewelry, quilts, wooden crafts, mittens, and more! The boutique also offers traditional and local music, t-shirts, sweaters, magnets, books of the history of the Acadians, traditional cook books and much more.

We are sure you’ll find the perfect souvenir for everyone....including yourself!

Accessibility

Although we still have much work to do to be fully accessible, we do offer the following and welcome you to the museum. We will update this page as we make improvements.

Welcome Centre (Main Building)

  • Designated accessible parking spaces.
  • Power door opener.
  • Accessible washrooms.
  • Gender-neutral washrooms in the amphitheatre.
  • Seating is available both inside and on the property.
  • A staff driven golf cart may be available during your visit (call ahead).  
  • The gift shop is located on the main level and has wide pathways.
  • Café du Crique is located on the main level and offers both indoor and outdoor dining (picnic tables).

A Note about the Historic Buildings

  • There are eight historic buildings on seventeen acres of land. Our roads and pathways are not paved.
  • Five of the buildings (Amphitheatre, Post Office, Augustin d’Eon Fish Shed, Trefry Blacksmith Shop and the small barn) have a ramp or level entry to the main floor.
  • Three buildings (Maison Duon, Maison Maximin d’Entremont and Abbott Harbour Lighthouse) only have steps. 
  • Upper levels of buildings are not open to the public.
  • Staff are on hand to share stories and answer questions
  • We have a curtesy wheelchair, walker and canes that can be borrowed during your visit. Please ask at the front desk.
